Mantis makes image generation better. As an “open platform” software image generator, it provides the most effective utilization of existing hardware in order to produce exceptional image quality. Faster, smoother graphics enable users to work at higher resolutions with higher frame rates across a wide variety of hardware platforms. Simply put, Mantis is on the leading edge of image generation technologies.
Mantis has a scalable client/server architecture that separates the simulation processing from the graphics processing. This architecture allows the Mantis Client application to provide the graphic control information to the Mantis Server, which in turn generates the graphical content for the display.

- Special Effects — Special effects such as vapor trails, sparks, dust, smoke, and explosions are only the beginning. Dive deeper to find things such as noise and dead pixels.
- Flexible Host Interface — Specify the line of sight, moving model states, or special effects
- Environmental Support — Weather effects—such as precipitation, fog, haze, dust, and the sun’s positioning—are easily configurable on Mantis
- Scene Load Management — By specifying tradeoffs, the user can maintain a specified frame rate for particular applications
- Mission Function Support — Mantis allows clamping and conforming of models to the terrain, line-of-sight intersection testing, height-above-terrain queries, height-of-terrain queries, and laser range queries
