Systems / Network Administrator

Location: San Jose, CA

Full-Time/Non-Exempt

Summary:

The Company is actively seeking a qualified self-motivated professional entry level Systems/Network Administrator to provide day to day, back-up IT support for Quantum3D’s San Jose office including but not limited to the configuration, maintenance, and repair of computer systems, phones, networking equipment, and printers. Perform software and hardware troubleshooting. Monitor and maintain mission-critical hardware and services.

  • The selected candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or have permanent resident status and should be working towards or have a Computer Science or related degree and/or 1- 2 years related work experience. A+/Network+/Security+certifications or other IT industry certifications a plus.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Troubleshoot problems with DNS, web services, mail services and overall aspects of an Active Directory environment.
  2. Assemble custom built desktop workstations with consistency and efficiency
  3. Troubleshoot hardware issues with desktop and laptop computers, phones, and printers including disassembly and repair
  4. Install, configure, and troubleshoot a wide variety of Windows-based software for end users including licensing and dependency issues
  5. Maintain the integrity of and monitor the health and optimization of the corporate servers and end user workstations.
  6. Perform maintenance during business hours as required. 
  7. Communicate effectively with other Network Administrators to restore mission-critical services in a timely manner as necessary
  8. Maintain a broad knowledge of operating systems and hardware
  9. Provide secondary support to other functions of the IT department.
  10. Install, configure, image, and repair Windows operating systems
  11. Support ancillary tasks as required e.g., facility maintenance

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Strong foundation in Windows operating systems including Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2003/2008.
  2. Solid understanding of networking protocols and configuration
  3. Excellent software and hardware troubleshooting skills
  4. Ability to multi-task and solve multiple day-to-day IT-related issues simultaneously
  5. Ability to communicate problems and solutions effectively to IT Staff and end users
  6. Superior attention to detail

Desirable Qualifications

  1. Currently studying to advance IT-related skills and knowledge
  2. Open-minded approach to problem solving
  3. A passion for new technology and knowledge of current trends
Compensation and Benefits:

Computer Science or related degree and/or 1-2 years related work experience, A+/Network+/Security+ certifications or other IT industry certifications a plus.
