SAN DIEGO, CA - December
11, 2002 - Quantum3D®, Inc., a leading provider of open
architecture realtime 3D visual computing solutions for the Visual
Simulation and Training (VST) and Embedded Visual Computing (EVC)
markets, today announced a new embedded graphics subsystem design
win with the Titan Corporation for hovercraft primary display
systems. In this new application, Quantum3D's Sentiris 4110
PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) will be used to provide situational awareness
information for heads down displays used for hovercraft navigation.
The award is another key Sentiris PMC win with a major systems
integrator and marks the first maritime deployment of the embedded
graphics subsystem. Sentiris, and the Quantum3D family of embedded
visual computing solutions are on display at COTSCon, December
10-11, 2002 in San Diego, in the Quantum3D Booth (No. 223).
High-speed, over-the-beach, fully-amphibious
hovercraft on which Sentiris will be employed are capable of carrying
a 60-75 ton payload of weapons systems, equipment, cargo and personnel.
They provide the capability to launch amphibious assaults from
points over the horizon, thereby decreasing risk to ships and
personnel and generating greater uncertainty in the enemy's mind
as to the location and timing an assault, thereby maximizing its
prospects of success.
Quantum3D's Sentiris 4110 is the first PMC that
brings the power of NVIDIA® Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
technology to Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) embedded visual
computing applications. Sentiris' underlying NVIDIA's Quadro®
4 embedded graphics technology is the most powerful embedded graphics
processor ever developed, delivering higher performance and better
image quality than any PMC available in the market today.
Sentiris PMC development is a result of the
Farsight initiative - the agreement between Quantum3D and
NVIDIA which enables Quantum3D to bring NVIDIA GPU technologies
to the embedded visual computing markets. Farsight seeks to provide
commercial and military aircraft, vehicles, vessels and transportable
systems with NVIDIA Quadro-based graphics engines that provide
realtime graphical, sensor, symbolic and imagery-based information
for situational awareness and operational mission effectiveness.
"Our efforts with Titan Corporation illustrate
the growing demand for Sentiris across a range of ground, airborne,
naval and now, even amphibious vehicles," said Ross Q. Smith,
Quantum3D co-founder and executive vice president of business
development and marketing. "The hovercraft is a dramatic
innovation in modern warfare technology and requires outstanding
graphics capabilities. Sentiris with its NVIDIA-based Quadro4
GPU technology and unique video capabilities is a great fit for
the demanding graphics and video requirements of this craft. All
of us at Quantum3D look forward to working with Titan in meeting
the needs of this program."

About Sentiris 4110 PMC
Quantum3D's Sentiris is the first PMC that brings the power of
NVIDIA GPU technology to COTS embedded visual computing applications.
Based on NVIDIA's new Quadro4 GPU, Sentiris delivers higher performance
and better image quality than any PMC available in the market
today-with anti-aliased line and full scene anti-aliased texture
map performance that far surpasses PMCs based on competitive graphics
chipsets. Sentiris supports NVIDIA's unique nView architecture,
which provides dual, independent outputs-with both digital (LVDS/DVI)
and analog outputs at up to 2048 x 1536 resolution with 32-bit
color and Z-buffering. For sensor, camera and other advanced video
functions, Sentiris also includes advanced video-in and video-out
functionality, with support color space conversion, scaling and
overlays for NTSC, PAL, S-Video and RS-170A formats.
Sentiris' underlying Quadro4 GPU is the most
powerful embedded graphics processor ever developed. With the
Quadro4's 128-bit wide interface to 64MB of high-performance frame
buffer/texture memory with NVIDIA's Lightspeed Memory Architecture
(LMA) with on-chip transformation and lighting acceleration
and Quadro workstation features, the Sentiris PMC 4110 is
capable of delivering up to 2.8 million anti-aliased lines per
second, and up to 358 trilinear Megapixels/sec, which surpasses
the nearest competitor by a factor of 5x.
Designed for open architecture applications,
Sentiris supports both Intel® IA32 and PowerPC®
architecture systems under Microsoft® Windows® (IA32 only),
Redhat® Linux and popular real time operating system (RTOS)
environments including Wind River® VxWorks®. Sentiris
is compatible with VME, CompactPCI and virtually all other single
board computers equipped with IEEE P1381.1 compliant PMC connectors.
Sentiris takes advantage of the Quadro4's PowerMizer technology
to deliver unsurpassed graphics performance with power consumption
and thermal dissipation that is typically less than 10 Watts-a
power and thermal envelope previously limited to simple frame
buffer technologies. Sentiris is designed to meet the rigorous
shock and vibration requirements of Mil-Std-810E and EMI/EMC requirements
of Mil-Std-461D, which makes it perfect for the hostile environments
found in deployed ground vehicle, marine, avionics and man-portable
applications. Sentiris is available in both convective- and conduction-cooled
models (per VITA 20-199x). Convectively cooled Sentiris models
are available from Quantum3D. Conductive cooled and industrial
grade convectively cooled Sentiris models are available from SBS
Corporation (www.sbs.com).
