SAN JOSE, CA, - June
2, 2003 - Quantum3D®,
Inc., today announced that Quantum3D AAlchemy® open-architecture
image generators (IGs) will power the out-the-window visuals for
a new Iberia Airlines Air Bus 320 full fidelity, full motion simulator
located at the airline's National Simulation Center in Madrid.
Thales Training and Simulation (TT&S) built the simulator
for Iberia, which includes a three-channel AAlchemy IG.
"There
can be no compromise on the image quality and precision of our
commercial flight simulation environment," said José
Antonio Freijo Martín, Flight Simulators Manager of Iberia
Airlines. "We are very impressed with the performance, anti-aliased
image quality and overall value proposition of the AAlchemy open
architecture system compared to the proprietary alternatives on
the market. The availability of a direct and local support contract
with the Quantum3D Logistic & Repair Center for Europe Decom
Valencia, s.l. is vital for an extremely fast reply on any service
request that is needed in a training environment."
"Since its introduction,
AAlchemy has set the standard for third generation IGs for both
aviation, ground vehicle, ATC and marine military and commercial
precision synthetic environment training applications," said
Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D co-founder and executive vice president
of marketing and business development. "Today AAlchemy continues
to enjoy widespread industry demand as part of our family of open-architecture
IGs, which range from entry-level systems to Independence,
the first fourth generation open architecture, scalable IG solution."
About AAlchemy
AAlchemy is Quantum3D's third
generation, open architecture line of advanced, scalable PC-IGs
that combines up to sixteen VSA-100 chips, one GB of dedicated
graphics memory and 42.5 GB/sec graphics bandwidth per channel
to deliver up to 890 Megapixels/sec at resolutions of up to 1600
x 1200 pixels, with trilinear filtering and full-scene anti-aliasing
enabled. AAlchemy provides essential capabilities for realtime
training applications including high-resolution output with multiple
pixel formats and four or eight sub-pixel sample full-scene anti-aliasing,
advanced texture compression for enhanced on-board texture storage
and texture paging performance and precision, hardware-based inter-channel
synchronization (SwapLock) and optional nVSensor sensor
post processor.
