SAN JOSE, CALIF -
July 28, 2003 - Quantum3D®, Inc. announced
today that Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) has selected Quantum3D's
Independence, the industry's first 4th-generation Image
Generator (IG), for use in its F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF)
Advanced Concepts Simulator prototyping and testing program in
Fort Worth, Texas. The JSF program enables pilot-in-the-loop test
evaluations of the F-35 aircraft, the next-generation strike fighter
for the United States and the United Kingdom. Under the current
contract, Quantum3D will provide Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co.
with nine multi-channel Independence 2000 Series IGs, along with
a complete set of high-resolution, geospecific F-35 databases
and Facets moving models to support the program.

The F-35 simulator enables pilots to fly the
aircraft in highly realistic simulated flight and air combat situations,
enabling them to evaluate system design in a realistic tactical
environment and to recommend changes. Independence 2000 Series
IGs support Clarity 16 Subpixel Sample Full Scene Anti-Aliasing
at resolutions up to QXGA (2048 x 1536) resolution and are designed
to support the F-35 requirements that call for sustained 60 Hz
performance with extreme resolution support, geo-specific databases
with dense cultural detail and high numbers of moving models.
"To be part of a program that represents
the largest defense procurement program in U.S. history and the
pinnacle of fixed wing simulator requirements is an extremely
significant win for Quantum3D," said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D
co-founder and executive vice president of marketing and business
development. "We have enjoyed a long standing and mutually
rewarding relationship with Lockheed Martin over many years, collaborating
on many ground vehicle and fixed wing synthetic environment training
programs. We look forward to participating in this critical program
to help Lockheed Martin determine the best ways to design and
build this next-generation strike fighter that will be the cornerstone
of defense programs for the United States and allied forces."

Independence - Advanced, Open-Architecture,
Scalable IG Solution
|
About Independence
Independence is an integrated, open architecture, multi-channel,
scalable IG solution that is optimized for 60 Hz, geo-specific,
multi-spectral, low-latency synthetic environment visual simulation
and training applications. Independence employs Quantum3D's patented
nVSync technology to combine up to 16 precisely synchronized
NVIDIA® Quadro or QuadroFX Graphics Processing
Units per channel and up to 32 channels per IG to provide industry
leading per channel performance that scales to 4.8 billion pixels
and 15 million triangles per second combined with Clarity 16 sub-pixel
sample full scene anti-aliasing. Independence includes Mantis,
Quantum3D's advanced realtime scene management software that features
a unique "plug-in" architecture that enables systems
integrators to develop program-specific capabilities that augment
the Mantis comprehensive set of IG features and effects. Independence
also features IGM, Quantum3D's comprehensive IG system management
software. With its unique, system level parallel architecture,
Independence is the first IG to provide "four nines"
(0.9999) effective system availability for reduced IG downtime,
along with intrinsic pre-planned-product improvement that enables
cost effective technology insertion over the life of the system.
