LONDON
- April 20, 2004 - Quantum3D®, Inc., a leading provider
of open architecture, realtime 3D visual computing solutions for
the Visual Simulation and Training (VST) and Embedded Visual Computing
(EVC) markets, today at ITEC announced software enhancements for
Independence and AAgility, Quantum3D's open architecture,
COTS Image Generation (IG) solutions. The enhancements enable
the IG solutions to meet the specific needs of Quantum3D customers
who are deploying advanced military and commercial synthetic environment
training programs.
The new offerings include enhancements to Quantum3D
Mantis advanced realtime scene management IG software, IData
Human Machine Interface (HMI) software and the Company's Image
Generation Management (IGM) suite of system administration
tools. The enhancements have been developed in part to support
such advanced training programs as the USAF F-15 DMT, USN TH-57C
Flight Instrument Trainer (FIT), USAF F/A-22 Air Combat Simulator
(ACS), USAF F-35 ACS and the US Department of Transportation National
Automobile Driving Simulator (NADS). Quantum3D IG solutions are
on display at ITEC at the Quantum3D Booth (No. 418) as well as
SEOS (No. 218) and Barco (No. 404) partner booths.
"It is a real strength of our IG solutions
that they are specifically designed to accommodate technology
insertion - at both the software and hardware level," said
Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D co-founder and president. "As our
integrator customers migrate more of their applications from proprietary
IGs to our open architecture IG solutions, they are demanding
more features and capabilities in order to achieve better training
value for their end users. With enhancements like IGM AMT, SEOS
Optimizer, WGS-84 and LCC support, we're able to address these
new requirements with straightforward software updates - which
truly fulfills the promise of open architecture solutions."
Mantis Enhancements
Mantis, Quantum3D's advanced, open-architecture realtime scene
management software, is an integral component of both Independence
and AAgility IG solutions. Mantis provides the most effective
utilization of modern PC graphics hardware in the industry to
deliver exceptional image quality and visual acuity with sustained
30 or 60 Hz frame rate performances. With these latest enhancements,
Mantis provides higher precision and improved flexibility for
a range of simulation and training applications.
Mantis now supports additional database projection
formats. In addition to the UTM projection, which is widely used
in ground vehicles and entry to mid-range flight simulation applications,
Mantis supports the more precise Lambert Conic Conformal (LCC)
and WGS-84 Geocentric Round Earth projections. A key requirement
for high altitude training applications and ultra large area databases,
Mantis' WGS-84 and LCC implementations enable intra and inter-continental
flight simulation without the distortion artifacts that result
from UTM or similar projections.
For driving and other ground vehicle applications, Quantum3D has
added sophisticated, host-based scene content control to Mantis
that enables the simulation application or instructor to selectively
enable/disable switches, degrees of freedom (DOF), special effects
and animation sequences associated with any 3D scene content feature
- including terrain. Available as an option for AAgility and Independence
IG solutions, this capability provides greatly improved flexibility
to training system providers that need to subject students to
rapidly changing environments, by simplifying the interface to
the IG to a single point of control.
IData Enhancements
Quantum3D's IData HMI software has been enhanced to support
the control of symbology, reticles, and/or other 2D overlays directly
from CIGI or other IG host control interface paths. As a result,
visual system developers now can more easily employ IData's powerful
database-driven HMI technology for both sensor and Heads Up Display
(HUD) applications in a standard host-IG environment, as well
as add IData-based controls to any moving entity, and/or any fixed
location, within the 3D environment.
New IGM Features
Quantum3D's unique IGM software suite greatly simplifies IG configuration
management, housekeeping and runtime management tasks via an intuitive
graphical user interface. IGM provides hierarchical access and
control of the IG - including all of the system's scalable performance
and image quality features. IGM enhancements include Account Management
and Tracking (AMT) features that enable the use of Quantum3D IG
solutions in multi-level, secure system-high operating environments,
which are typical in mission rehearsal applications or in multi-role
training systems. Available as a standard component of both Independence
and AAgility IG solutions, AMT enables authorized system administrators
to add, delete or modify IG user accounts, provide convenient
IG-level log-in/log-out access, and limit user-functions depending
upon account permissions.
SEOS Optimizer Support
Quantum3D has integrated direct support for SEOS Optimizer
display systems into Mantis. Available as an option for Independence
and AAgility IG Solutions, Optimizer provides outstanding target
recognition and detection capabilities for advanced air-to-air
and air-to-ground training and mission rehearsal applications.
