Quantum3D® AAlchemy® PC-IG
|
SCOTTSDALE,
AZ - July 14, 2004 - Quantum3D®, Inc., a leading provider
of open architecture, realtime 3D visual computing solutions for
the Visual and Sensor Simulation and Training (VSST) and Embedded
Visual Computing (EVC) markets, today at the Image 2004 Conference
introduced a major upgrade for its AAlchemy® series of mid-range,
open-architecture PC-based Image Generators (PC-IG). The upgrade
brings the power of NVIDIA® NV40 Graphics Processing Unit
(GPU) technology to AAlchemy SX, TX and QX PC-IGs via technology
insertion and increases the performance of the AAlchemy PC-IG
systems by up to 500% in many important areas including pixel
fill rate, triangle rate and texture memory-all while preserving
the full scene anti-aliasing image quality that is the hallmark
of AAlchemy systems. The AAlchemy Upgrade is compatible with popular
AAlchemy options, including nVSensor, Quantum3D's realtime
sensor post processor for NVG and IR simulation applications.
In addition, the upgrade also provides AAlchemy customers with
new graphics features such as anisotropic filtering and shader
based rendering, which, depending on scene management support,
provides enhanced realism for improved training.
The AAlchemy Upgrade also includes a copy of
the latest version of Mantis, Quantum3D's award
winning realtime scene manager, or if the AAlchemy system is currently
licensed with OpenGVS or VTree, the upgrade may optionally
include the latest version of those scene managers. Finally, the
AAlchemy Upgrade also provides customers with a new, one year
warranty on their upgraded systems and software maintenance on
their chosen scene manager product, effective from the date of
their upgrade. For AAlchemy customers desiring to migrate their
AAlchemy applications from competitive scene managers or from
OpenGVS or VTree to Mantis, discounted consulting services are
available when purchased with the upgrade package. Upgraded versions
of the AAlchemy TX PC-IG series are on display at the Quantum3D
Image Booth Nos. 21-22.
Available as either a factory or field installable
option, the AAlchemy Upgrade includes a Quantum3D Ventana®
8130 AGP graphics subsystem, a new power supply and other essential
components required to update the system. The Ventana 8130 AGP
consists of a merchant NVIDIA NV40 AGP graphics board and Quantum3D's
patented nVSync module, which provides pixel-level hardware
synchronization technology between upgraded AAlchemy channels.
The AAlchemy TX 8264SB, originally introduced
in 1999, delivers approximately 470 megapixels per second (MP/sec)
and 1.5 million independent triangles per second (MT/sec) with
22-bit color, SwapLock, trilinear filtering and four sub-pixel
sample, rotated grid, multi-sample anti-aliasing enabled (based
on the Real World Benchmark Version 2.4). By comparison, with
the Ventana 8130 AGP installed, upgraded AAlchemy PC-based IGs
can deliver up to 1,441 MP/sec) and 8.3 MT/sec, with 32-bit color,
nVSync, trilinear filtering and four sub-pixel sample, rotated
grid, multi-sample anti-aliasing enabled (based on the Real World
Benchmark Version 2.4)-which represents a 3x fill rate performance
improvement and almost a 5x triangle rate performance improvement-with
equivalent image quality and a range of added benefits including
support for shader based rendering, anisotropic filtering, QXGA
resolution support, almost four times the effective on board texture
storage and between 2x and 4x the database paging performance.
"Quantum3D has sold several thousand channels
of AAlchemy PC-IGs over the past five years on important programs
including UK CATT, USAF TSS, US Army AGTS, USAF T-38, USAF C-130
ATS, F-15 RSAF, Ford Motor VIRTTEX and U.S. Navy EA-6B WST, to
name a few," said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D co-founder and
president. "This new AAlchemy Upgrade delivers literally
two to five times original AAlchemy performance at a fraction
of the original cost-all while preserving AAlchemy image quality
and essential IG features, which is a great example of how Quantum3D
designs its systems to accommodate change in order to lower TCO
and maximize customer ROI"
Pricing and Availability
International single unit pricing for AAlchemy Upgrades performed
at the Quantum3D factory on standard AAlchemy TX, SX or QX configurations
with Windows 2000 operating systems is $5999, including all components,
labor, Mantis (OpenGVS or VTree) license and one year of extended
warranty. International pricing for AAlchemy Upgrades performed
on similar systems at customer sites starts at $6999, excluding
technician travel costs, which are separate. Scheduling for upgrades
is typically 60 to 90 days ARO, depending on numbers of systems
being upgraded and the system configuration(s). Volume discounts
for multiple system upgrades, specific configuration upgrade options,
and discounted application porting consulting services are also
available as part of the AAlchemy Upgrade program-please contact
