QUANTUM3D ANNOUNCES CONUS-WIDE DATABASE FOR INDEPENDENCE ANDAAGILITY IG SOLUTIONS TO BE ADDED TO GEOSCAPESE LIBRARY OF COTS SYNTHETIC ENVIRONMENTS
Newest Addition to Quantum3D GeoscapeSE Library Offers 10 meter CONUS-Wide Geospecific Coverage and 1 meter or Higher Resolution Areas of Interest Insets to Set Fidelity Standard for Visual Simulation and Training Community

Lake Meade 10m Resolution Imagery

Nellis AFB AOI 1m Resolution Imagery and 2D/3D Models

ORLANDO, FL - December 7, 2004 -Quantum3D™, Inc., a leading provider of open architecture, realtime 3D visual computing solutions for the Visual and Sensor Simulation and Training (VSST) and Embedded Visual Computing (EVC) markets, announced today at the I/ITSEC 2004 Conference that the Company is now developing a CONUS-wide geospecific database for deployment with Quantum3D Independence® and AAgility™ IG Solutions. The CONUS database, when complete, will be the newest member of GeoscapeSE™, Quantum3D's library of precision COTS synthetic environment databases.

The new offering is the first COTS synthetic environment database product that provides high-resolution geospecific imagery over the entire CONUS - a gaming area of 940 square degrees. Based on ImageLinks™ TrueTerrain 10m color mosaic photo imagery from Harris Corporation, Quantum3D's new database offering represents the highest resolution, highest fidelity solution available today for addressing precision flight and weapon system training and mission rehearsal applications that require extensive gaming areas as well as highly detailed inset areas.

The ImageLinks TrueTerrain 10m geospecific imagery forms the foundation of the CONUS database, which is designed to be augmented with 1m or higher resolution geospecific imagery, cultural features, and associated models in desired Areas of Interest (AOIs), which are developed and integrated by Quantum3D personnel within the Company's Synthetic Environment Center of Excellence in Orlando, Florida. Typical AOIs consist of COTS and customer-specific areas including civilian airports and surrounding areas, as well as U.S. military airfields, air stations and training areas. See www.quantum3d.com for a list of currently available AOIs.

Key aspects of the Quantum3D database creation process include optimization for a 60 Hz runtime environment using Quantum3D's Celerity™ synthetic environment database optimization tool suite, as well as leveraging color balancing, orthorectification, and feathering capabilities between base and AOI resolutions offered by ImageLinks to provide a seamless transition between resolutions during simulations. Together, these optimizations result in a unique combination of unparalleled fidelity and assured 60 Hz performance for maximum training value. Quantum3D will be demonstrating its COTS geospecific databases in the Quantum3D booths at I/ITSEC (#1810 and #1910) as well as in select partner booths.

Quantum3D's 10m CONUS database is a COTS product available in association with Quantum3D's Independence® and AAgility™ IG Solutions. The CONUS database is offered with both COTS and program specific high-resolution AOIs that Quantum3D will integrate into the 10m database according to customer specifications. For simulated NVG, IR or EO/IR applications, a texel-level materially classified version of the CONUS database is also in development for use with the Company's recently announced QUEST™ simulated sensor solution products. The Quantum3D CONUS database is a unique solution for addressing those programs where the simultaneous requirements for large geographic gaming areas, highly detailed areas of interest, and visual acuity coincide. Contact Quantum3D Sales for pricing and availability.

"Most of the wide area database offerings available today are geotypical or very low-resolution geospecific," said Tom Dowgiallo, Quantum3D Synthetic Environment Product Manager. "While suitable for general high-level flight training applications, they don't provide the fidelity necessary for precision training or mission rehearsal. Our new GeoscapeSE™ CONUS database is the first COTS database that brings the benefits of high resolution geospecific imagery to the training market. We believe that the differences in training value afforded by the new levels of fidelity, coupled with the flexibility of incorporating customer-specified AOIs will be greatly appreciated by the U.S. simulation and training community."
