QUANTUM3D ANNOUNCES INDEPENDENCE 2500 AND TECHNOLOGY INSERTION PROGRAM FOR INDEPENDENCE 2000
New IG Solution Features Quantum3D Enhanced Sensor Simulation Technology (QUEST) with 16-bpcc Fidelity and NVIDIA QuadroFX 4000 GPU Technology for Enhanced Realtime Graphics Performance

Quantum3D Also Announces QuadroFX 4000 GPU Technology Insertion Program for Independence 2000

Realtime Screen Capture from IDX 2500: IDX 2500 with NVIDIA QuadroFX 4000 Features Enhanced Realtime Rendering Performance for New Levels of Realism for Improved Training Fidelity

ORLANDO, FL - Dec. 7, 2004 - Quantum3D®, Inc., a leading provider of open architecture, realtime 3D visual computing solutions for the Visual Simulation and Training (VST) and Embedded Visual Computing (EVC) markets, today at the I/ITSEC Conference announced the availability of the Quantum3D Independence® 2500 Image Generator (IG) Solution. The Independence (IDX) 2500 is on display at the Quantum3D Booths No. 1810 and 1910.

Built on the same patent-pending System Level Parallel Rendering Architecture that provides the foundation for the Independence IG family, the IDX 2500 includes technology refreshment of essential PC components in the system's rendering subsystems as well as select upgrades of IDX value-added IG system and software components. Key aspects of the IDX 2500 are also being made available to existing IDX 2000 customers in the form of a Technology Insertion Program.

The IDX 2500 combines the NVIDIA® QuadroFX® 4000 GPU with Quantum3D's patented (U.S. Patent No. 6,646,645) nVSync™ precision synchronization module. With the new graphics subsystem, IDX 2500 delivers up to two (2) times the pixel fill rate and four times the pixel and vertex shader performance of prior generation IDX systems. To exploit these new capabilities, Quantum3D has also developed updates for the Company's Mantis™ Visual and viXsen™ Sensor Realtime Scene Management Software-which enable new levels of scene complexity with more realistic training cues generated by elements including enhanced realtime shadows and spotlights for more accurate illumination effects, terrain conformal rotor wash for helicopter applications, advanced marine effects for naval and naval aviation applications and advanced weather system simulations for fast jet mission envelopes.

IDX 2500 IG Solution

IDX 2500, similar to IDX 1000 and IDX 2000 series IGs may be configured with 1, 2, 4, or 8 renderers per channel. With the enhanced performance per renderer, the IDX 2500, when configured for 8 Sub-Pixel Sample (SPS) Full Scene Anti-Aliasing (FSAA), delivers up to 8.97 million pixels per second and up to 35 million meshed triangles per second, which is approximately 20 times the performance of merchant PCs and sets a new performance record for realtime visual computing systems. In addition to higher performance, IDX 2500 now supports up to QXGA (2048x1536 pixels) resolution with industry-leading Clarity™ FSAA with up to 64 sub-pixel samples.

IDX 2500 is also available with Quantum3D's new QUEST™, Quantum3D's second generation sensor simulation technology that provides 16-bit-per-color-component (bpcc) dynamic range and hardware-accelerated post-processing for "real world" sensor characterization using the system's configurable sensor effects and near zero-latency OpenGL® -based symbology overlay features.

For existing IDX 2000 customers, Quantum3D is also offering a low-cost technology insertion program that includes factory or customer site upgrades of their IDX 2000 IG Rendering units with the new QuadroFX 4000 and nVSync module technologies. With the upgrade, IDX 2000 customers can benefit from the advances in performance and features provided by the new technology, without affecting their investment in database and application software.

"The Independence architecture is designed to accommodate technology insertion, which is a unique and compelling benefit of the system when compared to other IGs", said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D president and co-founder. "With the new capabilities of the IDX 2500, we're able to deliver significantly enhanced realism and fidelity to our training system and simulation customers. In addition, with our technology insertion program for IDX 2000, we're able to help our existing customers enhance the performance of their systems without spending an arm and a leg on new hardware and without affecting their investment in application or database software."

First customer shipments of IDX 2500 are slated for later this month. QuadroFX 4000 technology upgrades for existing IDX customers are scheduled for Q105. For pricing and detailed availability information, please contact Quantum3D sales at (407) 737-8800 x 100 or at salesinfo@quantum3d.com.
