QUANTUM3D INDEPENDENCE IG SOLUTION CERTIFIED READY-FOR-TRAINING FOR U.S. NAVY TH-57C FLIGHT INSTRUMENT TRAINER (FIT) PROGRAM

Rockwell Collins Selects Quantum3D Independence 2500 as Follow-On IG for U.S. Navy
Helicopter Training Program for Operations, Rescue, and Personnel Movement

Quantum3D Independence® IG Screen Capture Illustrating Ocean Effects, Extensive Cultural Lighting, and Dense Three-dimensional Features

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS - April 26, 2005- Quantum3D®, Inc., a leading provider of open architecture, realtime visual computing solutions for the Visual and Sensor Simulation Training (VSST) and Embedded Visual Computing (EVC) markets today announced at ITEC that the U.S. Navy has certified the Rockwell Collins Simulation and Training Solutions NAVAIR TH-57C Flight Instrument Trainer (FIT) program, which features the Quantum3D Independence® 2000 Image Generation (IG) Solution as "Ready-for-Training". The TH-57C Flight Instrument Trainers are located at Whiting Field, near Pensacola, Florida, and are used for primary flight training for new U.S. Navy helicopter pilots. The TH-57C FIT enables U.S. Navy pilots to train in highly realistic simulated marine and land-based flight scenarios including take-off and landing, navigation, operations, rescue and personnel movement at all times of day and in all types of weather. Independence is on display at the Quantum3D ITEC Stand No. D17.

As a result of the successful acceptance test of the TH-57C FIT simulator, Rockwell Collins Simulation and Training Solutions has also awarded a contract to Quantum3D to provide the IG Solution for the second simulator. Rockwell Collins has options for up to six Quantum3D Independence IG systems to be delivered over the next several years under the NAVAIR TH-57C FIT simulator upgrade program. The second TH-57C FIT will incorporate Quantum3D's recently announced Independence 2500 IG Solution, which includes technology insertion to provide enhanced fidelity and throughput, while maintaining comprehensive simulation software, host interface and database compatibility with the prior generation system.

A key aspect of the Independence IG Solution relative to the TH-57C FIT application is the system's marine effects package that provides host controllable sea-state and ship wakes to provide realistic motion cues and indications for shipboard operations. In addition, the Independence system for TH-57C FIT also features Quantum3D's Continuous Model Scaling (CMS™) for enhanced target recognition, detection, and identification, as well as enhanced lighting systems including IFLOLS, SGSI, HARS, PAPI, and VASI for precision shipboard and land-based landing training procedures, and Boston Dynamics DI-Guy® which is used to provide Landing Signal Officer (LSO) human simulation. Another key aspect of the TH-57C FIT is its use of stimulated Night Vision Goggle (NVG) training enhanced by the Independence system's Stimulated NVG tuned output, which is matched to the SEOS™ DPM displays used in the system.

Quantum3D® Independence™ 2500
IG Solution

For the second TH-57C FIT, Quantum3D will deliver a multi-channel Independence 2500 IG Solution. The Independence 2500 combines merchant NVIDIA® QuadroFX® 4000 GPU-based graphics boards with Quantum3D's patented (U.S. Patent No. 6,646,645) nVSync™ precision synchronization module. These improvements enable the system to deliver enhanced pixel fill rate and shader performance over prior generation Independence systems, while maintaining complete software compatibility at the application software and host interface levels, and content compatibility with the previously delivered Quantum3D developed high-resolution, geospecific synthetic environment database and realtime 3D models.

"The TH-57C FIT is an important entry helicopter pilot training program for Chief of Naval Air Training (CNATRA) that requires uncompromising fidelity," said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D co-founder and president. "Our partnership with Rockwell Collins in this effort provides NAVAIR with an enduring, high-fidelity, low total-cost-of-ownership system to provide TH-57C training as well as a precision geospecific synthetic environment which may be reused on future programs. Quantum3D is pleased to be an ongoing part of the Rockwell Collins TH-57C FIT team."
