SAN JOSE, CA – February
26, 2007–Quantum3D, Inc., a leading provider of
Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS), open architecture, realtime visual
computing solutions, today announced that Aero Simulation, Inc.
(ASI) has selected the Quantum3D Independence IDX 3000 IG Solution,
Facets Realtime 3D Models and related 3D Ocean environments as
part of the Navy’s upgrade to the Landing Signal Officer
Trainer (LSOT) located at Oceana Naval Air Station (NAS), Virginia.
The Landing Signal Officer Trainer provides
a safe, controlled environment for concentrated, hands-on, individual
and team training. The LSOT allows mission critical training without
endangering aircraft, personnel, or flight support equipment.
It provides trainees with high fidelity virtual environment technology
that enables them to practice coordination procedures and experience
in real time, the complex concepts involved in the recovery of
combat aircraft aboard an aircraft carrier. The simulator has
the capability to train a wide variety of emergency conditions
and replicate malfunctions to accommodate the level and complexity
required to fully prepare and re-certify landing signal officers
for operational duty.
The Quantum3D Independence IDX 3000 IG Solution
selected by ASI for the LSOT upgrade is a high fidelity IG solution
that provides the most comprehensive set of essential IG features
available in the industry today - including complete shader, particle
and polygon-based weather and special effects, advanced weather
and environmental effects, compatibility with important visual
simulation standards including CIGI and NPSI, unmatched technology
insertion capabilities, low total-cost-of-ownership, as well as
industry-leading image quality, visual acuity, and performance.
For the LSOT, Quantum3D is also providing Facets
realtime 3D models and a complete suite of marine-related special
effects—which together will add enhanced realism and training-accurate
visual cues which are essential for training effectiveness.
“ASI is pleased to have Quantum3D
as a partner on this important program,” said Dr. C. Michael
McCarthy, ASI President. ”We welcome the opportunity to
work with Quantum3D and look forward to our successful integration
and delivery of their world-class products as part of our upgrade
to this unique training environment.”

“Visual cues are essential to the LSO
mission and so fidelity of the IG and model sets are crucial in
the LSO trainer,” said Ross Q. Smith, Quantum3D Co-Founder
and President. “Quantum3D is grateful for ASI’s confidence
and we value the partnership with ASI that will allow us to contribute
to this important high fidelity training solution for U.S. Navy
Landing Signal Officers.”
The Quantum3D IDX 3000, Facets Realtime 3D Models
and other Quantum3D products for visual simulation and training
will be demonstrated at ITEC 2007 in Cologne, Germany in the Quantum3D
Stand (No. 542) and select partner stands. To arrange a meeting
at ITEC or for more information, please contact salesinfo@quantum3d.com.
