The AA5 Series of graphics accelerators offer the best graphics performance on the market today and are based on 3dfx® VSA-100 graphics technology. The AAlchemy family is compatible with a wide range of leading realtime 3D scene managers and supports leading 3D graphics APIs including SimGL* and 3dfx Glide® with realtime 3D file formats such as Open Flight® and Terra Page on a variety of PC operating systems.

The AAlchemy Series of PC IGs is an advanced third generation graphics systems equipped with full-scene, anti-aliasing (FSAA), dual processors and top-of-the-line realtime AA5 series of 3D graphics subsystems. AAlchemy has been designed to provide affordable, extreme-performance, extreme-quality 3D graphics for today's most demanding visual simulation applications. Volume AAlchemy customers are eligible for Quantum3D's long life cycle program.

  • Supports perspective correct bilinear, trilinear and selective anisotropic texture filtering with per-pixel LOD MIP mapping with Gouraud modulated, detailed and projected textures
  • Sustained independent triangle throughput greater than 1.5 M textured, independent triangles per second (also supports triangle meshes and strips for even higher levels of sustained polygon performance)
  • On-chip support for 3dfx FXT1™ (4-bpt) and 3dfx (YIQ) compressed texture formats enables on-board texture storage of up to 128 Megatexels (@ 1280 x 1024 resolution) and peak texture paging rates of up to 528 Megatexels/sec (depending on model)
  • Support for high-resolution texture maps (any size, up to 2048 x 2048 texels) for enhanced realism and geospecific mission rehearsal applications

SCALABLE PERFORMANCE
AND UNMATCHED IMAGE QUALITY

The secret of AAlchemy is it's Parallel Rendering Architecture™. It combines up to sixteen 3dfx VSA-100™ chipsets and 1 GB of dedicated graphics memory with up to 42.5 GB/sec of graphics memory bandwidth and SSE™ optimization to deliver industry leading polygon, fill rate and texture paging performance simultaneously with the industry's best image quality effected via T-buffer full-scene, sub-pixel anti-aliasing, high-resolution video output and color depths, advanced texture compression and up to 2k x 2k resolution texture maps. The net effect is a unique range of software compatible products that feature scalable performance and price points-from 115 Megapixels/sec to almost 900 Megapixels/sec-all with no compromise image quality. Now for the first time, integrators can fine-tune their IG to their application and budget-and still achieve the image quality needed for maximum training effectiveness.

THE AALCHEMY GRAPHICS SUBSYSTEM
The AA5™ family of advanced realtime 3D graphics subsystems is available exclusively for deployment in the Quantum3D® AAlchemy™ family of scaleable, open architecture PC-based Image Generators (PC-IGs). AA5 subsystems feature Quantum3D's Parallel Rendering Architecture that combines the power of 8 or 16 3dfx VSA-100 graphics chips. The AA5 supports Quantum3D's unique Performance Trilinear™ technology which enables 2-pixel per clock trilinear rendering, 0, 2, 4 and 8-way Scan Line Interleaving (SLI) and 4 or 8-sample T-buffer™ full scene anti-aliasing to enable vis-sim integrators to "fine tune" the PC-IG for desired performance and image quality levels. The AA5 family also supports numerous essential simulation features that are critical for multi-channel deployed training systems and complex, multi-spectral synthetic environments. These include Quantum3D SwapLock™ precision inter-channel synchronization technology and hardware texture compression for mission rehearsal applications that require high performance texture paging and high resolution, geo-specific texture maps. The QSync™ module allows a variety of external signal sources to be used to synchronize an AAlchemy PC-IG.

AVAILABLE WITH nVSENSOR™
For IR and NVG applications, AAlchemy is available with nVSensor, Quantum3D's realtime hardware sensor post processing option that enables AAlchemy to host high-fidelity sensor simulations without the performance degradation associated with software-only approaches. With its 10-bit per pixel DAC and optimized support for MultiGen-Paradigm Vega™, SensorWorks™, SensorVision™ and viXsen™, nVSensor adds sensor effects including AC Coupling, AGC, Blur, Detail Peaking, Gain and Bias, OTW/Sensor Multiplexing, Noise, Polarity Inversion (white-hot / black-hot), Reticles and Symbology, and Tint to realtime rendered IR or NVG scenes with DVI and analog RGB output.
